Available on requestThe Andharban Jungle Trek is one of the most beautiful and unique forest treks in Maharashtra, famous for its dense jungle trails, mist-covered valleys, waterfalls, river streams, and lush green landscapes. Located in the Sahyadri mountain ranges near Pune, Andharban literally translates to “Dark Forest,” perfectly describing the thick forest canopy that covers most parts of the trail. Unlike most mountain treks that involve continuous ascents, the Andharban Trek is known for its descending forest trail experience. The route passes through dense forests, hidden waterfalls, foggy pathways, and scenic valley viewpoints, making it one of the most immersive nature treks in the Western Ghats. The trek begins near Pimpri village and continues through one of the richest forest regions of the Sahyadri ranges before ending near Hirdi village. During monsoon season, the entire forest transforms into a magical green paradise filled with flowing streams, cloud-covered valleys, and countless waterfalls. One of the biggest highlights of the Andharban Trek is the untouched natural environment. The dense forest canopy blocks sunlight in many sections, creating a mysterious and peaceful trekking atmosphere. The sound of birds, flowing water, and rustling leaves adds to the overall wilderness experience. The trek is especially popular among photographers and nature enthusiasts due to its awesome monsoon landscapes. Every section of the trail offers beautiful scenery, from narrow forest paths and moss-covered rocks to deep valleys hidden beneath thick clouds. The route also provides breathtaking viewpoints overlooking Kundalika Valley and surrounding mountain ranges. During heavy monsoon periods, clouds drift across the valleys, creating spectacular visual scenes. Although the trek is relatively easy in terms of altitude gain, the long walking distance and slippery monsoon terrain require basic fitness and careful movement. The route includes muddy trails, stream crossings, and forest descents that make the experience adventurous yet manageable. The Andharban Jungle Trek is ideal for trekkers who want to experience the raw beauty of the Western Ghats without extremely difficult climbs. It offers the perfect combination of adventure, nature, monsoon beauty, and forest exploration. For people looking to escape city life and spend a day immersed in untouched nature, Andharban remains one of the best trekking experiences near Pune and Mumbai.
Why we love Andharban Jungle
“Every detail was handled with such care. The Kedarkantha summit at sunrise, surrounded by snow-laden pines, is a memory I'll carry forever. The trek leaders paced us patiently and the camps felt organised without losing the wild feel of the trail.”
Arjun Mehta
Mumbai, Maharashtra
“The Char Dham Yatra with TrekRoots was transcendent. Their expert guides made the spiritual journey as smooth as it was profound. Stays were clean, timings were honest, and I never felt rushed through darshan.”
Priya Sharma
Bengaluru, Karnataka
“Spiti Valley left me speechless. TrekRoots' local knowledge opened doors — remote monasteries, hidden villages — that no other operator offered. Logistics on high roads stayed calm even when weather flipped.”
Vikram Nair
Delhi, NCR
“Frozen lake, Trishul views, and a leader who never rushed us. Brahmatal felt wild and safe at the same time — exactly what I hoped a winter trek would be. Gear checks and briefings were thorough without being preachy.”
Ananya Reddy
Hyderabad, Telangana
“Crossing from green valleys into Spiti's desert in one trek still feels unreal. Logistics were tight, groups stayed small, and the turn-back call on a windy day earned my trust. That honesty is why I book with them again.”
Rohit Kapoor
Chandigarh, Punjab
“I was nervous about the altitude and the crowds. TrekRoots paced us kindly, arranged stays that felt clean and calm, and the darshan morning was unforgettable. Clear inclusions meant no surprise costs on the trail.”
Meera Iyer

“Late-July meadows looked painted. Our guide named flowers I had only seen in books. Comfortable pacing and clear inclusions — no surprise costs at basecamp. A monsoon trek done the right way.”
Sanjay Desai

“Perfect long weekend from the plains. The Tungnath trail at dawn, hot chai at Chopta, and a homestay that felt like family — we are already planning the next one. Small group, big heart.”
Neha Joshi

“Remote, high, and deeply spiritual. The team was honest about fitness and weather. Standing before Om Parvat with a prepared group made all the difference. Safety briefings matched the seriousness of the route.”
Aman Singh

“Seven days of meadows, villages and quiet ridges. Porters and guides from the trailhead villages made the journey feel rooted — not a rushed tourist loop. Evenings in camp were thoughtful and warm.”
Kavya Menon

“High passes, monastery mornings and a crew that checked every bike like it was their own. Best organised road trip I have done in the Himalayas. Support vehicle and altitude advice kept the group sharp.”
