What Safety Means To Us At TrekRoots

Trek leader checking on trekkers at a high-altitude camp

What

SAFETY

means to us

At TrekRoots

In the mountains, altitude and weather do not negotiate. So our safety process is not a document filed away somewhere — it is what the trek leader carries up the mountain, and it is the reason we will turn a group around a hundred metres below a summit.

Every camp above 9,000 feet runs twice-daily health checks, and every trekker is read on an oximeter morning and evening. The readings go into a log the leader reviews before clearing anyone for the next ascent.

Each departure carries bottled oxygen, a stretcher and a full first-aid kit, and every trek leader is certified in wilderness first aid. Evacuation routes are mapped campsite by campsite before the batch ever leaves basecamp.

Summit day has a turn-back time written down in advance. The leader calls it, and that call is final — whatever the weather looks like from the tents at 4 am.

5 Reasons Why TrekRoots

Trek Leaders Who Know The Trail

Trek Leaders Who Know The Trail

Led by people who walked it

Every departure is led by a certified leader who has walked that route in that season, not a guide hired for the week. They know where the snow sits late, which stream runs high in the afternoon, and when a group needs to stop.

Small Groups, Always

Small Groups, Always

Capped batch sizes

Batches are capped so the leader-to-trekker ratio stays high and nobody walks the last kilometre alone. It costs us places on every departure, and it is the single thing we are least willing to change.

Fitness Before The Summit

Fitness Before The Summit

Prepared, not surprised

We tell you the fitness you need months ahead and send a preparation plan the day you book. If the mountain is not right for you yet, we will move you to an easier trek rather than take the booking.

Honest About The Weather

The turn-back call

If a route is unsafe we cancel it. Summit day carries a turn-back time written down in advance, and the leader calls it. We would rather lose a booking than send a batch into a storm.

No Hidden Costs

No Hidden Costs

What you see is the price

The price you see covers your stay, meals on the trail, permits and forest fees, and camping equipment. GST is the only line added at checkout — there is no gear rental or permit surprise at basecamp.

Sacred Yatras For This Season

Ancient temples, holy rivers and the high Himalayan abodes — guided pilgrimages with permits, stays and helicopter transfers arranged end to end.

The TrekRoots Advantage.

50+ Himalayan treks on the catalogue

Winter summits, monsoon meadows and high passes across Uttarakhand and Himachal — enough range that there is a right trek for you in almost any month.

12+ sacred yatras, run every season

Char Dham, Do Dham, Kedarnath and Adi Kailash with Om Parvat, including helicopter transfers where the window allows it.

10,000+ travellers since 2012

More than a decade of departures across 30+ Himalayan routes, which is why our itineraries read like they were written by someone who has walked them.

Six homestays we own and run

Basecamp nights in our own properties across Uttarakhand, so the night before your trek is not left to whoever had a room free.

We carry our trash back down

Every group brings down its own waste plus whatever earlier groups left behind, and there is no single-use plastic on the trail — refillable bottles are handed out at basecamp.

Hired from the villages at the trailhead

Guides, cooks and porters come from the villages where the trek starts, and camps are pitched on designated ground and rotated to let the meadows recover.
